This is why I love having the TV OFF!
Alexander created a birds' nest today. This was a project that he came up with by his own free will! Those colorful balls are eggs. I would love to live in such a vibrant nest!
My children watch very little TV (and when I say TV, I mean vidoes or netflix... we stream things onto the computer. We don't have an official television as the main focus in our house). At the moment, they may watch a video once a week. Yes, it is sometimes a struggle to find something for them to do and I would really love some quiet to get things done... but, when the TV is off we have fewer melt downs, they are more capable of resolving problems, and they create everything (and yes... I get fewer things done. I tend to participate in their world. Please come over and view my mountain of laundry to fold)! Their imaginations are wild! We have a beautiful rhythm without TV.
When I do allow a video, Alexander just wants to consume more. He would watch TV all day if I allowed it. He would really watch it all the time if it were an option. And when I finally turn it off, he always has a fit. Just recently, we went for two weeks without any videos. That means here, at friends' houses, or at grandma's. It was so refreshing.
And this evening...
A little Ring around the Rosie. Just look at that smile!
Me: Alexander, what was your favorite things about swimming today?
Alexander: EVERYTHING!
I am so glad that Alexander is having a blast at his swimming lessons. He is such an outstanding child. He excels in all that he does. You are doing a great job with your children.
